November 30, 2011

Dear EcoWiki Community,

This issue is our welcome to December and the holiday season. Good luck during finals, and safe travels if you are leaving town.

This afternoon, we celebrated the end of PSU's second annual Social Sustainability Month. The numbers were crunched by the Women's Resource Center EcoFem Task Force. Over 600 individual people signed in at at least one of the 26 events held throughout November (last year 150 people attended). If all guests were students, this comprises two percent of our 28,000 person student body! At the closing ceremony, we dined on apples, pears, and asian pears from the farmers market as well as homemade tea, bread and jam. What an evening!

The Institute for Sustainable Solutions and Sustainability Leadership Center have also just launched an exciting new opportunity for students that we are so excited to share. The 2012 Solutions Generator provides support for student projects to form teams and make change on campus and in our community. Check out this link for details. Final proposals are due in January.

Are you looking for some fun holiday craft ideas that re-use materials? Sustainability Volunteer Program participants recently made some amazing bags from newspaper - perfect for holiday gifts. And if you're feeling especially festive, try this colorful twist on traditional paper snowflakes

Finally, here's a final shout-out and thank you to the 4,000+ members who receive the bulletin each week. We hope you find the bulletin and EcoWiki useful. In the coming term, we'll be sending out a survey to learn more about your interests and see if there are any changes you'd like to make to the site. We also have some of our own ideas to roll out...

Next week's edition will be the last in 2011, and then, and then we'll be enjoying time off with family and friends.

Until then,
The EcoWiki Team
