Reporting back from the non-profit fair: Lots of opportunities!
Today the Sustainability Leadership Center was lucky to have a table at the Non-Profit Fair through PSU's Career Center. It was awesome! I made some rounds and talked to a variety of organizations. Here's a list of places to check if you are looking for volunteer or internship experience.

Summer + Sunscreen = Choose Wisely!
I'm leaving to present at a sustainability conference this Wednesday, and it is in Florida. Besides the carbon from the flight, I'm thinking about sunscreen and how to choose a good brand. Traditional sunscreens have been linked to nasty stuff like water pollution, cancer, birth defects, and hormone disruptions. Yikes!
For us Portlanders, the sun may seem like a long-forgotten friend. Light sun exposure is SUPER healthy for us by providing needed Vitamin D. For longer exposure, most people need to wear sunblock.
Music Is a Day Job!
Partnered with the local musicians’ union, a handful of PSU community development students have been working together to raise awareness for the Fair Trade Music campaign. Fair Trade Music (FTM) is similar to other fair trade movements in their struggle to establish an agreement of fair compensation from venues or clubs to the professional musicians hired to perform nightly. The current practice within the live music scene is to mainly offer exposure to bands in return for their hours spent practicing, promoting, traveling to a gig and performing.
