I was not in Systems Science; I was a Ph.D. candidate in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Also, at the time of this seminar, I was (already) an assistant professor (full-time, tenure-track) at Oregon Institute of Technology, not an instructor.
Hi there Ms. Morris. Does Mickelberry Gardens have this spot filled yet? Sounds interesting + fun, but I don't want to waste our time(s) if you have already found someone to help grow your business.
I just saw the note about the Higher Education Sustainability Conference. Great!
Is there still space in the program? I would like to make a presentation about food production on a suburban property. I have been transforming my own quarter acre property in Eugene for 13 years. Its a great example of what can be done with a nothing special suburban property. Food growing all over the place. Plus passive solar redesign, 6500 gallong rain water system. Driveway gone,,,,,, on and on.
Hundreds of people have toured my place in recent years.
You can see images and foto galleries on my website.
Have you heard of this program: http://marylhurst.edu/academics/schools-colleges-departments/school-graduate-studies/food-systems-society/ma-food-systems-society/index.html

I believe that storytelling sustains cultures, family history, as well as serves as an excellent vehicle for knowing self in relationship to land, place and others; developing ecological identity.
Hi! I work for the manufacturer of the Brita Hydration Station, Haws Corporation, and we love this map! We would like to talk to someone from PSU about helping support awareness of the units on campus.
I studied computer science at PSU and while an Ethics course is required, I do wish that either that course or another more specific class covered the Ecological implications of computing (which is itself an ethical issue).
Some considerations that should be made:
What is the effect of modern technology on the environment?
Does computing increase our greenhouse gas emissions (sort of: emissions are caused by the manufacture and use of computers, but on the other hand, some may argue that modern communication technology has reduced our need for driving or flying).
How can computer scientists help in the fight against global warming? As programmers, can we write applications that are a) designed to work on older hardware so people don't need to upgrade often and/or b) designed to help people reduce consumption and emissions in other areas?
There is a lot more to go into, but there is some food for thought.
Nestle needs to understand that the people of the Northwest are hip to their jive. We're pickin' up what they're layin' down...and we're throwin' it right back at em'! Nestle will exploit our region's water supply if they're allowed into the Gorge. Let's rally!
Thanks for your feedback. We have been noticing a sluggish loading time for some users. Some are not having this issue. Over the summer, we will be moving to the newest version of Drupal and also making some site changes. We are just about finished with the academic year, and then we'll be getting to work!
Mehmet, thanks for contacting us. We've updated the page.

Great idea! The best way to contact Environmental Club is at ecpsu@pdx.edu. They are the main organizers.
Jan, your best bet is to contact the folks listed on this page:

Looks like a nice space!
Cheers & happy holidays.

We're actually calling them "hydration locations" since "Hydration Station" is a Brita branded product. Here's the link to the map, the above doesn't seem to be working: http://www.pdx.edu/planning-sustainability/sites/www.pdx.edu.planning-sustainability/files/Hydration%20Locations%2011x17.pdf

No sign up necessary. The Greenspace is room 28 in the Smith Student Union (in the basement, adjacent to the Food For Thought Cafe).
Do we need to sign up for this? Also, where is the PSU Greenspace?
Thanks,
Adam
The class was cancelled? Why?
Yikes! I've been using banana boat baby on my 19 month old all summer. Thanks for posting maybe it's time to switch suncreens!
This sounds awesome!

I contacted streamteam and let them know. Hopefully they will add the contact info soon :). I agree that it sounds like a great opportunity.
