The PSU campus sustainability pledge was launched on September 28, 2009 through the Sustainability Leadership Center. For the first time students, staff, and faculty have the opportunity to consider their behaviors together in order to enhance the quality of life for our campus and global community.
Project Details:
The campus sustainability pledge provides a framework for the PSU campus community to understand how their actions impact social, economic, and environmental systems. This project acts as an educational tool to foster sustainable behavior changes. The pledge was developed over the 2008-09 academic year and is now available on PSU's Student Affairs website at pdx.edu/studentaffairs/pledge.
The pledge will show the collective impact which can be created by PSU’s 30,000+ community members. Staff, faculty and students who sign the pledge make a commitment to choose better everyday actions that support healthy social, economic, and natural systems.
PSU's pledge committee also chose to include a section focusing on community and social sustainability. The creators want to emphasize the interdependence and equal importance of social, economic, and environmental systems in the creation of a sustainable society.
We hope you will join the PSU sustainability pledge community by making a commitment to change at least three actions in your own life today! Visit pdx.edu/studentaffairs/pledge to make a difference.
