Mind Body Medicine at Portland State University provides a space to explore mind body science. It is a collaboration of all things amazing in a field about optimism, flow, possibilities and transcendence.
It is an opportunity to participate in MBM in your way. It assists you in establishing a strong foundation in MBM so you can represent this lovely field in whatever direction your career may take.
Mind Body medicine is sustainable. MBM does not harm our planet. MBM is about doing things that sustain us, renew us and build us up. A very amazing side affect is it creates awesome people who have the energy and the focus to care about what is happening around them. Thus motivating them to to act, to walk the talk.
Because health is everything, health and sustainability are inseparable. Without sustainable practices we have no health. Health care and medicine are also a source of many unsustainable things. One example is pharmaceuticals in our water (they also are found in bottled water). That is a unsustainable health care thing.
We look forward to creating more of a dialogue on the connection between health, health care and sustainability. Sustainability and medicine are one. Sustainability is good medicine.
Our walking of the talk includes:
- Providing stress management workshops and classes to help PSU students create and prioritize sustainable health practices.
- Events that include movies and lectures that bring together concepts of health and sustainability.
- Working with the community to expand their understanding of MBM thus empowering them to create a sustainable lifestyle. Our current program is the MBM program with The Giving Tree. {ask us about it we are hiring interns}
- As a new student organization, we look forward to collaborating with other organizations at PSU and in the community.
