Take Back the Tap!

The student Miller Grant-funded project "Take Back the Tap" has successfully teamed up with PSU Facilities and Planning to install our first water bottle refilling station. The station features a water filter and is located in the first floor of Smith across from the Information Desk.  Check it out!

 

PSU Sustainability Welcomes New Students

Sustainability staff from around campus has coordinated to provide support for new students during summer orientations.  We'll be at all student resource fairs, provide guided composting at catered events, and are setting up a variety of activities during new student week!  Welcome, 2010-11 incoming students!

 

Student Volunteers Needed

Are you looking to expand your resume this summer?  Sustainability offers a variety of volunteer opportunities that can help you network and develop skils in a variety of areas.  To get involved, email Heather Spalding, Sustainability Leadership and Outreach Coordinator, at hspaldin@pdx.edu.

 

Food for Thought Cafe is Open This Summer

The student-run cafe wil have pastries and coffee available from 9 am - 2 pm Monday through Thursday. Feel free to stop by in the basement of Smith Student Union. Yum!

 

Sustainability Bulletin - Coming Soon!

PSU's new Sustainability Leadership and Outreach Coordinator is compiling PSU's first Sustainability Bulletin.  Look for it at the beginning of August.  For now, you can sign up for the bulletin by becoming a member of the EcoWiki!  Click "create an account".

Faculty and staff invited to "Go Green" PDF Print E-mail

 

Making students feel welcomed, riding mass transit to work, or wearing PSU colors on Fridays are just a few ways to “Go Green” for Portland State. How you Go Green could win you a T-shirt, pizza or iPod nano.

 

PSU Office of University Communications is sponsoring a contest asking faculty, staff, and students to create a short video showing “How I Go Green.” Submit an entry to www.pdx.edu/gogreen by Nov. 12; the first 75 will receive a free T-shirt. An iPod nano goes to the individual grand winner and a $150 Hot Lips Pizza gift certificate goes to the group grand winner.

Mission Statement:

The intention of this coffee guide is to systematically examine the practices of coffee shops in the immediate vicinity of Portland State University in terms of sustainability and present the findings to the PSU community. The purpose of providing this information is two-fold: first, to encourage readers to patronize those shops making eco-friendly choices; second, to provide a specific list of tangible adjustments any shop can make to be more sustainable.

Transportation during New Student Week: PDF Print E-mail
  • Flexpass (PSU student transit pass), is valid on all buses, the Max, and the streetcar during New Student Week.
  • Bike parking is available in various locations on campus check out www.bikeshop.pdx.edu for more info on biking to PSU.
  • Fall term parking permits are valid during New Student Week. Short-term parking is available for new students in Parking Structure 3 each day of New Student Week for a daily rate.
  • For more information regarding the Flexpass or parking on campus, visit transportation.pdx.edu or the Transportation and Parking Services office in the Neuberger Hall Lobby.
  • Click www.pdx.edu/campus-map for a map of campus or directions to PSU.
