Chuck it for Charity
Chuck it for Charity 2009
Written by Julia Person

Each year at the end of Spring Term we collect reusable household goods from PSU resident halls that might otherwise be tossed out. We then select a local non profit to become the beneficiary of the reusable goods. In Spring 2009 we donated over 2,054 lbs of clothes, shoes, blankets and general housewares to benefit Friends of Seasonal and Service Workers. We still have plenty of great household items we'll offer to new students during our PSU ReUses! Rummage Sale held September 21st-23rd, 2009 from 10am-3pm while supplies last. All proceeds from the rummage sale will benefit Friends of Seasonal and Service Workers.

Mini Chuck it for Charity Results

The Mini Chuck it for Charity event held during Finals Week Winter term, the last week of Recyclemania, was a great success.  Check out the donation weights of all unwanted household items gathered from campus residents and kept out of the landfill.

Clothing = 574 pounds

Kitchen items = 128 pounds

Misc. household items = 107 pounds

Total = 808 pounds

These items will benefit the families of seasonal farm workers through the charity Friends of Seasonal and Service Workers.

Keep your eye out for the main Chuck It For Charity event that will take place during Spring term Finals Week, as well as a Rummage Sale, with proceeds benefiting our great charity.
